There are several brands of graphics cards with the GeForce4 technology that allows video capturing.

    MSI, Aopen etc...

From what I've read, they allow mpeg-1, mpeg-2 and VCD capturing. Can anyone confirm this? It would really really suck if you can't capture to AVI .. help me out, does anyone know if you can capture avi?

  2. I'm using an MSI GF2TI w/video in, and have captured in mpg1/mpg2 and avi. All the MSI video in cards I've read about at MSI,s web site come bundled w/Intervideo's Wincoder, which captures mpg1/mpg2. If it uses the same video in chip as the GF2TI (and iI believe it does) avi shouldn't be a problem, capturing w/V-Dub.

    Ok, thanks for the help!

Can you capture in high resolutions (720x576)? Is the quality OK?

  4. I commonly capture @720x480 (ntsc) using PICVideo quality @20 with little or no dropped frames. the downside to this is if you're using win9x you'll hit the 4GB file limit in 6 to 7 minutes (thank god for frameserving). I found quality of capture has more to do with the source material, most of my source material is old vhs and sucks.

  5. M82a1, I was wondering if you could help me out with this winproducer/wincoder program as I cannot seem to grab mpeg2 in Pal full or half but if I select ntsc then it allows me to do ntsc full and half with no problems..

    Any help is much appreciated
