  1. Can I convert a MPEG 4 to MPEG 1 or 2??? I want to make a VCD !!! But the file is a MPEG 4 ......

    TMPG does not work with MPEG4 and the link to vcdhelp/convert does not talk about MPEG4........

    "cannot open, or unsupported" is what I get using TMPG

    If you can play the file with media player you should be able to open it in TMPGenc with the directshow filter. Just give it higher priority in the VFAPI plugin settings.

  7. Most MPEG4 material is divx unless you have something in a microsoft mpeg4 codec.

    First use virtualdub to convert from a mpeg4 avi to uncompressed (big) or indeo 5 avi with highest quality (smaller). Save the sound of the mpeg4 as a WAV with the same program.

    In TMPGenc use the new avi as the video source and the WAV as audio.

    Then make sure its supported, Go install the corect codec

    Try Nimo codec pack
