  1. Hi,
I am getting ready to burn my first DVD - I have an avi file about 19 GB that I edited in Pinnacle Studio (from a movie abut 1 hour and 31 minutes). I have DVDit and Pinnacle Express available for rendering and burning. I'd like to add a few chapters, if possible.

Will this fit on one DVD ot do I need to break the file into smaller AVI's? I thought that when it was compressed into an MPEG2, that it would fit - is that right or does it have to be divided and put on more than one dvd? I noticed my commercial dvd's have several smaller files. My goal is to play it in my stand alond DVD player - do they require files of a certain size?

Are either of the programs I have OK to use, or do I need to use either TMPGenc and NERO for good quality?

Also, my DVD recorder (Pioneer DVR-A04) came with PowerDVD and PrimoDVD, but no documentation. What are these? I'd like to find out before installing them.

Thanks for any help and hints!!

  2. Well from personal experience, dvdit is a pile of shite i wouldnt give sonic solutions the steam off my piss.
Get a demo of ulead dvd workshop + sync patch. U can use ur avi, add chapters etc etc w/out cutting it, and u can do everytyhing that dvdit can do +more (except dobly digital). U can also let ulead convert the avi into dvd standard b4 burnin the dvd and i must say i was very fuckin impressed (when i let ulead convert all my avi's the resulting quality was amazin, no sync errors, no ghost effects, no blocks and only at 2000 CBR) I use dvd workshop now, if u try it u may find thats its all ull ever need for dvd burning.
