I am having problems with some dvd rips, i would like to use a program that i can have the mpg open on the timeline and either stretch or remove audio so it is in sync. Premiere takes forever to do anything, so i don't use it. Is anyone using anything like i described?
All i need is to work with the audio, insert silence, cut a piece out and have it playback so i can see realtime whats happening. This way i don't have to use tmpg back and forth for days to work on a movie.
TIA

I am a newbie, so please feel free to take what I have say with a grain of salt.
If I wanted to do what you wanted, I would demultiplex the audio from the video, with TMPGenc. Resulting in two files, one .m1v file, and one mp2 audio file.
Load the audio file into Goldwave. Insert silence, or delete enough of the audio file, depending or the sync problem.
Then save the Gold Wave file. It would be a .wav file.
Go back to TMPGenc, on the main program section, load the .wav file as audio input, select "Start". The result is an .mp2 file.
Multiplex the new .mp2 file with the .m1v file, and you will have your audio-edited mpeg file. -
I had done all of that, but this problem was a real nuisance. It would start out ok, then it went out of sync, then it went back good etc etc. I ended up using vegas video, that is a very cool program and very easy to use. It only took about 45 mins to render the finished mpg file, compared to premiere that would have taken days.
When exporting and re-importing the video, that takes a while when using tmpg and the sound editing programs. Doing it with vegas video on the timeline takes about an hour or so to go through the entire movie and fix the areas.
