  1. Ok, it seems on my notebook I cannot encode ANYTHING except when using virtualdub. I have the nimo codec pack installed. If I try to encode using tmpgenc, dvdx, 3d studio max, output is always corrupted, even when using uncompressed AVI.

For some reason I have to exit the encoding program to load it into windows media player, or I get the error "The file is in use by another process" even when encoding software beeps at me telling me it's done. When I close the encoding program, Windows Media then says "File is not supported". I'm using windows XP.

If I encode a video using Divx, and look at the filesize when the encoder is done, it is ALWAYS 0 bytes until I close the encoding program..

  4. Hi! Well, until now, I haven't had encoding problems in my XP PRo equipped Compaq. (It has a 1.4 P4 and a DVDRW DVR103).

BUT I cannot capture under XP with my Iomega BUZ or the miroVideo DC30Plus. For analog capturing I have to restart in Windows ME. Firewire capturing works fine under any OS. I also installed Windows 2000 Professional, because mysteriously I cannot install and run XP and ME. Only when I install the 3 OS's everything runs just fine.

The only problem I always have is when converting MJPEG to MPG. It's really Slooooooooooooooow.
In this industry, Sadly, The future was yesterday.
