  1. i'm looking for a dvd player under £150 in th UK

I tried the naiko n2001b which had been recomended by someone in this forum but the ability to remove macrovision has been disabled and it will not play any of my vcd's - either burnt or bought, so this is going back to the store.

i mainly want this to play home made vcd's

    all suggestions welcome

    thanks

  4. Try the Kiiro 838d, it plays all regions, even RCE, and has macrovision disabled and a dual audio decoder built in and its nice and small.

Cyberhome 528 ~ £100. Available at http://www.playstationmods.com/dvd.htm and http://www.richersounds.com/ You can't disable macro, for which you need a macro-busting scart lead.

  7. The Yelo 800 also gets my vote - shame it has no slow motion though. I had 2 Dansai 852s before and neither of them lasted more than a week before packing up.

Absolutely not. My Pacific 750 is as above. The ones they are selling now have had the macro hack removed, and the ability to play VCD removed. Even the ones that play VCD (like mine) are decidedly iffy with most SVCDs!

  10. Try the Sharp DV740 H, I got mine for £170, but have seen it cheeper. Can play all regions, and has some hidden features. Plays all the SVCD's i've got.
Did have a problem with it, kept jumping, but took it back to the shop and they gave me a new one. Works fine.

Well I can only comment on the one that a friend of mine bought, which plays what I stated.

I have one that plays everything, with macro disabled. My daughter has one, bought after mine, with the macro unable to be disabled. And ASDA are now selling ones with a big notice stating that they do not play VCD -and this is borne out by people who have bought one recently! 8)
