and MP2 is the SVCD sound format.

pls i really need help on this, i have been trying to create an SVCD for days.
.mp2 is the final audio format for SVCD. what you'll need to do is encode video only, and then multiplex with the audio later--I would use BBMPG for that.
--your audio is at 44.1khz, right?

don't worry...it's easier to do than you think
if you are encoding with TMPG, in the lower right hand corner, there are a few options like system, system/video only...
select the one that says video only.
this will give you a .m2v file, which is the video stream for your SVCD.
the .mp2 file you already have is the audio stream.
once the video is done encoding, in TMPG, under file go to MPEG tools, and go to multiplex. input your video stream(.m2v file), audio stream(.mp2 file), and choose a name and location for your primary stream(mpeg file)
once that is done, that mpeg file is valid for a SVCD. just open Nero and drag and drop into new SVCD, or use VCDeasy, and create an image.
for that, you will just load the mpeg file, select SVCD, uncheck the option for perform compliance checks, and then hit go.
after that, in Nero(or whatever) select burn image(or something similar), and pick the .cue file that VCDeasy makes.
I hope that helps...if not, look through the guides here, they are well done and detailed.

    thx for the replies!!
correct--you don't need to worry about the audio when you encode because you already have a SVCD audio file(.mp2)
multiplex is just mixing the audio part of your mpeg(the .mp2 file) with the video part(the .m2v file) to make a complete(audio and video) file
when you start to encode the video only, you will start by opening a template--choose SVCD(either PAL, NTSC, or NTSCfilm). you will check the little box on the lower right hand corner that says video only
this will give you a .m2v file.
you will then go to file-->MPEG tools, and select multiplex.
for video input, select the .m2v file you just made.
for audio input, select the .mp2 file you made before with headache
for file type(the dropdown menu) select mpeg2-SVCD
    for output file--name it whatever.mpg
whatever.mpg will be a mpeg2 file, which is for SVCD
your last step will be to burn that onto a CD.
you should be able to look through the guides and find a good method for that

    pls, this is urgent.
after your load your template, hit load again, and under templates\extra load "unlock"
    this will "ungrey" the options.
