I had an avi file of snow dogs. I converted it to mpeg for vcd but I screwed up on the audio (part 2 had the audio 1 playing over audio 2) and so I had to do it again. In the meantime, I had to clean off my hard drive, so I erased alot of stuff, but I don't think I erased anything important.

So today I tried to redo the mpeg file with the correct method for the audio, and tmpge tells me that it won't create the file. When it asked me to overwrite the first one, I said yes, and it looked as though everthing was fine, until I got the message: fle cannot be created! It won't tell me why. could I have eresed something vital or does it sound like something else? How can I find out?

Also I tried to convert a copy of bad company with simaler results. Tmpge said that it could not open the file, but it plays fine in windows media. the reason I think that it is something stupid I did while cleaning the hard drive is because I wasn't having problems coverting most avi files to mpeg before this, but then again,I was not doing the exact same thing.

Someone help! I was making progress before, but now everything is screwed! Im thinking that I must have deleted something crucial like a codec that I needed ( I have the divx 5.02 bundle installed, with the divx player 2.0). Should I install something else?

    Thanks,
    budgirl
