  1. Can VOB files be converted to AVI (Audio-Video Interleave) files?
NO frameserving, just want the VOB to be converted directly to AVI.
I will then load this *.AVI file into EditStudio and encode it using MpegXS
    plugin encoder.
Is this possible with DVD2AVI? I tried it but the conversion stopped when
it reached 1979MB file size (I'm using NTFS file system). This file could not be opened with Media Player and could not be loaded into any NLE software.

    Has anyone tried this conversion?
Any help from you is very much appreciated.

    Thanks

Try using a different codec, I expect you are trying to save it full frame uncompressed. Divx gives excellent quality with small file sizes. You should get about 200 to 300Mb of avi per 1Gb VOB file.

  3. Davewave,

Yes, I was trying to save "Fullframes uncompressed". However, I did try "No Compression and MainConcept codec" but also stops when 2GB file size is reached.
Divx codec is not available in the codec lists so that means I have to get and install it. I'll try this out today. Thanks.

2Gb is the file size limit for all operating systems before XP (I don't use XP, as I can't get drivers for a lot of my devices (and it's crap!)).
You can download the divx codec from http://www.divx.com
The default bitrate setting is quite low, so if you have the space, increase it to the max. This will give better quality in the initial converting and editing stages, and then convert to SVCD or VCD format when you produce the final video.
