I've been doing conversions for awhile, but just started using DVD2SVCD so I am new to this program. I did one movie (DVD) with great results using the default settings, very easy! Now, I have 2 questions...
1) Regarding how SVCD decides where to split a movie, if it is going multiple discs. I want to know how much control I have over exactly where it splits. My concern is it splitting right in the middle of an action scene or someone talking. With my old DVD2AVI/TMPGEnc method, I had precise control (frame accurate) over where to split a movie, but I don't see a place in the DVD2SVCD process to control this (and I am also new to CCE). Is my only option is to rip/convert half of the movie/chapters at a time?
2) Lets say for example I have an 80-minute movie, and I am deciding whether to put it on 1 or 2 discs. I know if I do it onto 1, it will be a rather low bitrate, but for some things (cartoons for my daughter, etc) I might accept lower quality, but I'd really like to see a sample first, to see how good or bad it is. In other words, if I know an 80-minute movie will only encode at, say, 1Mbit/s (I just made that up for an example). So I want to try one chapter first as a test, but if I rip 1 chapter, it will encode at a much higher bitrate. Any suggestions on how to convert a small clip at an 80-min bitrate?
Thanks everyone!

1 and 2. if you use the internal ripping rutines you can encode a selection of chapters. anouther solution for the bad-cut-problem is to uncheck, the delete files box (or is it chelkc the dont delete files box, dont remember - been a while) and then use the mpv and mp2 to mux and cut your self with bbMPEG
2. under the bitratetab in the bottom row you can make the bitrate settings your self (it overrides the min/cd settings above). Do settings here and then selact a chapter (see above).Well, I am the slime from your video.
Oozin' along on your livin'room floor.
