    I was capturing to divx when my computer froze on reboot I had a 1 gig chk file is there anyway I can recover the avi from it?
    mediaplayer wont open it nor tmpgenc or virtualdub divxfix etc

    so it rebooted while you were capturing still???

    I don't think you can recover it, but you can try a program in Tools Section... its called like AviFix
