I am working on a copy of snow dogs and part went okay and it seemed as though part two went okay as well. However, when I checked out part two, it had the same audio as part one. I followed a guide about converting from avi to vcd mpeg (followed a combination of guides and used virtual dub and tmpge and burned with nero) but I don't remember reading anything about a situation such as this one. The guides discuss the splitting of a file in order to fit it on one disk, but how do I do the audio to match. I just used the same wav file with part 1 and part 2, and to tell the truth, I thought that seemed wrong. I would appreciate anyone's advice!

Also, can anyone tell me where I can find some type of help file or guide that explains all the features and uses of Virtual Dub? I have read that it is supposed to be a "great" program, but I have only used it to determine the fps and the first steps before encoding with Tmpge. I would like to be able to get the most out of it as I learn more about digital video. As well, if anyone could tell me where else I can look (besides here) for more info about Tmpge. It worked great for me with conversion, better than all other ones that I tried (1st timer), and I know that it is capable of much, much more.

Thanks to anyone who responds, and I will be waiting for your reply,

If you have 2 avi files you need to demux them both. use vdub to make it a wav file. be sure to rename the 2nd audio to something else, like wavpart2.

    For more sites about TMPGenc.

Okay, I am a newbie, so you have to be a little more explanatory. What exactly is demuxing? and yes I have two avi files that form 1 movie, but there is only 1 audio file. Or am I wrong? Please tell me how I can work with the audio file seperatley if this is what must be done.
What I did is save the wav file and when prompted by tmpge, I entered it into the space called "audio file" on the "select source" section (page two of the wizard). I hope this helps someone to know what I did wrong. If not be assured that I will explain it in more detail in order to get some assistance! So where do I go from here?

Ps: Also, I just noticed, the faulty audio is actually two audio tracks playing on top of each other, probobly part 1 and part two of the movie. so Part two is there, its just drowned out by part 1.

Thanks for all or you guys replys!

AVI should have video and audio just like mpg. When you made the wav the 1st time it was for just part 1 of your 2 part movie.. You need to make wav file for each avi that you want to encode with TMPGenc.
So if you have 2 avi's you need to make 2 wav files, 1 each from the 2 avi files. So when you get done with making the wav file you should have 4 files. part1.avi, part1.wav, part 2.avi and part2.wav.

demuxing is taking a avi or mpg and seperating the audio and video streams, muxing is whe you take seperate audio and video streams and put them together. (muxing is multiplexing, demux is demultiplexing)

So, do I have to demux with all two part avi files, or does an audio file usually exist for both parts already? If you did not understand the question, what is an example of an instance where I would have to demux? as you can see, I am new to this stuff! thanks for your help so far!
