I converted Divx to SVCD using TMPGEnc and KingViper's SVCD Template.mcf. The quality is great (considering 130 min SVCD is on one CD), but after I search (fast forward, rewind, etc) the picture becomes unstable...blocks and strips of the picture are missing. Anyone know why this is, or how it can be corrected?
Enc process:
Stripped the audio via VirtualDub
Loaded KingViper's SVCD Template in TMPGEnc using orig Divx and WAV
Changed Motion search Precision to High Quality
Changed Framerate from from 25 to 23.976
Everything else I left alone
*I wouldn't think this would matter, but I also multiplexed the MPEG2 and rewrote the headers to MPEG1 so the SVCD would play on my Sony.
**The BNR feature on my player didnt get rid of the problem either.
***The only way to get rid of the problem is to eject the disc and start from the beginning.

FYI I figured out a workaround. After encoding to MPEG2, in TMPEGEnc do a Simple Demux, then use bbMPEG to Mux as SVCD. If you need to, then you can MUX in TMPEGEnc to rewrite the headers from VCD to SVCD to trick you DVD player into playing the SVCD. I'm not quite sure about the specifics of the fix, but my understanding is that bbMPEG calculates the correct scan offsets when muliplexing. I'm assuming TMPEGEnc doesn't do this correctly, or at all. If anyone more knowledgable knows whats going on, please enlighten me.
Here's a link which clued me in:
