About 2 years ago I bought a GoVideo DVR5000 and was disapointed in it's performance. I underatsnd they have improved it significantly since then which brings me to my question:
What is the best DVD/VCR combo player out there? I mean this in terms of media supported, audio and video quality, and of course ones with hack codes. I'm looking for feedback from actually owners of these units(Samsung, Toshiba to name a few) but anybody with feedback or an opinion would be appreciated as well.
    Thanks

  2. I have the Toshiba SDV280 and I like it a lot. However, I am noticing a slight pause in the middle of some movies which I believe is a layer change. It seems to read DVD-Rs very well if you are interested in that.

I use to have similar problems with my GoVideo unit.
Does this player play vcds/svcds? I would think that the combo unit with a macrovision hack would be the one I'd be most interested in. Having said that, movie skipping drives me batty so I wouldn't want that is prone to doing so.

  4. I have one of the Panasonic dual vcr/dvd combos, the progressive scan model. I will be bringing back to CC because I'm getting static in the audio on VHS but it's probably just a problem with this particular unit. Before the audio problem occured, it was great all the way around.

The VHS video is better than my Toshiba Hi-Fi VCR, never saw a pause in any of the DVD's I have. I had a Hitachi interlaced DVD player that would play most movies but on several just skipped all over the place. The one in the Panny combo is excellent.
