  1. I can't understand why I'm having so many problems. I HATE sucky software!

I just want to capture junk off my Tivo and put it on a DVD.

I have an ATI AIW 7500. I have tried using the software that comes with it to capture video. I bring it into Ulead DVD Movie Factory and burn it to disc. No matter what I do I get misaligned audio. I have tried buring with tons of different software with the same result. I think it is the Ulead software. When I use it to burn a disc with a bunch of different mpegs (to make up 1 movie) I get some parts of the movie with misaligned audio and other parts that work OK. When I use the Ulead software to combine the mpegs into one movie before burning I still get misaligned audio. I've downloaded the patch that is supposed to fix this but I still get the same problem.

Surely there must be someone out there that has a ATI AIW 7500 that has figured out a system for making a decent looking DVD. Please help me out! I've spent like $300 bucks in the past week trying out different software! Help!

(Oh, and capturing with the DVD Movie Factory software is no good because it wont let me do the large size I want to do)

  2. Why don't you capture video with Ulead? Never use MMC, it doesn't work most of the time...

  3. Well, MMC allows me to capture at 720x480 and I cant only get up to 320x240. I have no idea why. There are hight options for width but the height stays at 240. I dont get it.

    Hi,
Why do you want to capture output from your TVIO as it is already in mpeg.

Theres a board you can get which adds an isa slot and you can network one to your PC or later models you can plug in a 3com USB ethernet card.

Or with a few utils on the PC you can access its hardrive driectoory if you take it out and place it in the PC. (Nemo)

  5. makresure Ulead has the current audio sync patch as it has known audio synch issues. There is a patch for both DVD Movie Factory and DVD Workshop, once patched it should fix the issue.

Once you upgrade the Tivo with that card you can get the mpegs off the Tivo? I thought they were their own proprietary format that couldn't be easily accessed?

    Thanks, Kevin

    ozmaccp,

one more thing you can do b4u try ironwood321's option to TIVO'lize
    to more troubles...

Have you tried just going out and getting another Audio card, but
not the same one you have currently in your pc. Get one of those
really cheap ones, with 2 or 4 speaker output, ie, $39 jobs and
see if problems go away. I know some systems just don't like or
process the IRQ's and/or CPU % / resources very well, or they steel
enough of the resources to cause problems w/ your audio.
Unfortunately, ALL of those SoundBlaster cards have this problem,
though, some do work in other peoples system well, without any audio
issues. You's, that is, if you have one of these cards in yours, is
probably causing you these audio issues. Go out and try a cheaper
audio card w/ out these Resource hungrey ones, and see if your audio
goes away. You can always return these card w/ the excuse that it
doesn't work or is not "compatible" w/ your current system to the
    salesman, or return person.

    Good luck.

  8. I have a Dell with onboard audio. I wonder if thats a problem. Maybe I should get a new soundcard and disable the onboard audio.

  9. I recomend avoiding Ulead MPEG entirely as both versions of DVD movie factory have issues with sound or quality. Use MMC to capture directly to MPEG-2 720 x 480 at at least 4 Mbit video rate. Then use NERO to burn the disc.

You should not have audio sync issues going this way. I use MMC 7.6 with an AIW 128 Pro card and it does an excellent job capturing through S-Video. You need to set the audio to 48000 hz sample rate thru the MMC registry editor otherwise this could cause problems.

DVD Audio is supposed to be 48000 Hz and not 44100 - this could also be a problem. XSVCD is another solution although getting more than 25-30 minutes per disc would result in lower quality.

  10. Thanks, I'll try going that route. The problem with using strictly MMC though is that I can't really edit the video (take out commercials). Unless you think there might be some software I could do this with without screwing up the audio on reexport. Thanks.
