wmv conversion

everytime i try to convert a wmv file to mpeg my encoder stops responding and I have to shut it down. the encoder i use is tmpeg.
how can i convert this format to mpeg. I can successfully convert asf and avi files to mpeg using the tmpeg encoder.

can my dvd player read the wmv file format to play like a mpeg format does. If so how can i convert avi or mpeg to wmv.

The problem is the audio, try to make a video only conversion and it works like a clock.

To make videos with sound you must extract to wav, using an utility like dbamp. Follow the instructions, and you will enjoy your movies!!.
