XP does not load when connected to TV via TV out

when I connect my pc to tv via tv out on AV 1, everything loads up perfectly, only the picture is black and white. If I connect using AV2 then it loads in colour but only as far as the black XP start up screen, then nothing else happens. Can anyone please help.

How are you connecting to your tv? maybe SVHS cable to scart converter, Is your AV1 set up for SVHS input? if not it may give you this problem. Check both AV inputs(on mine when I flick between them both the on screen menu says SVHS input) Also can you change the TV out to PAL etc that's If you are using composite. Note SVHS cable gives no audio.
