  1. Can anyone comment on their experience with Viewcast Osprey products, especially the Osprey 200 or 210?

I'm trying to capture old VHS home movies, and the Hollywood Dazzle DV Bridge I have can't seem to tolerate so-so quality VHS input. Has anyone used an Osprey for this? Any other recommendations?

    Thanks!

Osprey tended to be a fairly high end card which was popular in US universities because It comes with real player encoder software etc.

It can be used with premiere. Do you have all the software / application which orignally came with the card.

  3. I have the Osprey 210 board and use it in WinXP Pro, and in one word.... DAMN
I love this thing. I capture tv shows at 480x480@30fps no problem.
I ripped ToyStory ( side one) from Lazerdisc at 480x480@30fps.. SVCD quality using the Huffy lossless codec. Turned out to be about 19gig.
During the whole time of ripping it off the disk, I lost 6 frames total in the 19gig. I think thats not to bad.
I've also ripped some anime from VHS tape and it worked great.
At least it works wonderfull for me. I use Virtualdub to capture with.

  4. Thanks for the replies.

ironwood321, I'm not sure I understand your question about having the software that came with the card. I don't have an Osprey, I'm just considering it because the Hollywood Dazzle handles quality glitches so poorly (in my limited experience).

Linuxboy00, that does indeed sound very good. Have you used the Osprey on any medium-to-poor quality VHS sources?

  5. Yes I have. I've ripped some Dragon Ball Z anime from VHS that I purchased at Wal-Mart. The quality is "okay" from the source.
I've also backed up some home movies and stuff from VHS and it lookes about as good as the source, maybe better depending on the filter used

  6. linuxboy what is your setup (computer wise) i've been capturing with the all n 1 wonder radeon but i hate this thing as far as the video card goes but capturing is great. I have been thinking of getting the osprey to do capture with & go back to my g4 card for video.
