  2. Yes, it's almost a great app.

It captures a pretty clean VCD mpeg, into a format thats almost vcd ready. It's got a few issues, here are the main issues and the workarounds:

    1. The muxer isn't vcd compliant
Workaround: remux the mpeg before authoring to vcd.

    2. The audio encoder is pretty broken. It suffers from what seems to be bitrate spikes in the audio stream, which many standalone players will choke on, either by stuttering the video, a pop in the audio, or just outright stop playing.
workaround: re-encode the audio stream only, then mux to the original video stream.

    3. It has a feature to automatically split the mpeg captures into custom sized chunks, but this is also broken. The first segment is usable, the rest are not. They'll still play in media player, but they are difficult to edit or author to vcd.
workaround: don't let it split the file into segments

    4. The scheduler doesn't adjust for daylight savings time. It will still show the correct time, but it will record an hour off from the schedule.
workaround: delete and recreate the recording schedule whenever you go in or out of daylight savngs time.

    5. Doesn't seem to run on dual processor systems, at least not my dual amd 1600+.
workaround: don't throw away your single processor system just yet.

In spite of all that, the video quality is still quite good as far as real time vcd capture software goes. If they ever fix the audio encoder, I'll probably use it quite a bit.
