    Right...

i have d/l ed a couple of avi films and every time i goto play or decode or wotever i get errors... i.e unsupported format....

i have all the divx codecs installed as i can convert all divx stuff to vcd & i don't think i would be able to that without all the relevant codecs.

question is this - do i need a different codec just for AVI's?

Is divx and AVI the same thing?!?
    Any help is FAAAANTASTIC.. :D

Right click the AVI and find out what codec it uses, then go get it

You probably missed one, perhaps the new DivX 5

DivX is a codec used to compress AVI's
