  1. I just got my first surroundsound home theater system, and want to test it out. Someone sent me a website where there are several small VOB files to download, all in Dolby 5.1 . I do not have a DVD burner, only CD-R. Is there a way I can burn these VOB files to a CD-R to play on my standalone DVD player, without converting them to MPG first? I don't want to convert because I want to retain the Dolby 5.1 , that's why I'm downloading them, to test my speaker system. So I'm not talking VCD here. Is there some way to burn them onto a CD-R as a 'mini DVD'?

if you use ulead dvd movie factory , you can load a vob file and burn to a cdr. it will give you a warning that the disc that you are about to creat is a mini dvd and may or may not play on all dvd players. just click ok.

i have done this and it works great.

Or just demultiplex the vob into video and audio streams and add them in the authoring tool.
