    DVD2SVCD is a front end program that includes: vStrip, bbMPEG, VCDImager, TMPGenc, etc. etc. In theory you put in your DVD, start DVD2SVCD, set everything up in it. And it'll automatically load/run all the other programs for you.
    There's a tread on this program currently running if you do a search.

    Otherwise checkout http://www.flexion.org/vcd this site has LOTS of screen captures so it's pretty nice/user friendly.
