Apple DVD player won't recognize the "virtual" DVD. It says No Disk. Any ideas on how to play my mounted DVD?

Mount the image via Toast without having first launched DVD Player. This is the sequence I go through to play DVD-Video content (either from a VIDEO_TS folder, a mounted image, or an actual DVD):
[a] Boot into OS X
[b] Start up Toast Titanium
[c] Apple-M to mount an image; select the image
[d] Mounting the image creates a virtual DVD drive that DVD Player recognizes as valid and will startup.
The version of DVD Player I use is 3.1.1. My OS is OS X v. 10.1.4. I have a summer 2001 G3 iMac. -
Yeah I know how to do it using DVD Player 3.x for OS X, but it only works for OS X 1.4, and although I only run OS 9 I have OS X 1.0. I was hoping for a OS 9 answer. Thanks anyway.

Not to be bitchy, but to be bitchy, you could have stated you were looking for an OS 9 solution.
