What can I do to speed up my encoding speed?

I think you will need to provide a little more information before anyone can give a serious answer

Perhaps you should first check if you can speed things up by using a different approach.
For example: If you frameserve from virtualdub and you use a resize filter, using "bilinear" instead of "bicubic" can speed up things dramatically. Only use bicubic when you need to enlarge.
Use a faster encoder like CCE instead of TMpegEnc.
You should give us more information what method you use.

This came up in a thread in the last week. Other than software settings, you'll probably only find a faster CPU will help with encoding.
Less than 3 months after getting my P4-2.0 it looks like that will be the CPU they are pushing and discounting (ouch). Gateway is advertizing a system with flatpanel LCD(?) for $999Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
