    Ok, if I get a DVD player and take off macrovision can I record the movie to a DVD-R with a DVD Recorder. For example, I play a DVD movie in my "macrovision disabled" DVD player and I insert a dvd-r into my DVD recorder will I be able to make a perfect copy of the DVD movie??

    Not a perfect copy, at least not that way.

    I assume you're talking about a set top DVD recorder, not a computer DVD recorder.

    Playing a DVD out to a set top DVD recorder, the video is converted into a composite signal, and your set top re-converts it back into mpeg2.

    For a perfect copy, you need a computer DVD recorder.
