  1. I just finished reading and watching video clips that were done with Visual Communicator by Serious Magic. Has anyone used this or what do you think of it. I went to their website (seriousmagic.com) but there is no demo download.

    Thanks

  2. Just checked out their site, and it seems like an interesting program.

From what I can tell, you can create "productions" in two ways:

"traditional" - Assemble video clips, graphics, sounds, transitions, etc. on a timeline
"live" - You assemble the "outline with teleprompter text, drop in graphics and transitions, and then when you click on "record", it uses your webcam or camcorder to generate the production in real-time.

I can't tell from the web site, but it looks like this is an "assembly" program more than an "editing" program. ie: you can create a production from lots of "pieces" but I can't tell if you can use the program to actually "create these pieces." For example, can you split/join video, etc.

The web site says if can generate .wmv and .avi files, and it says that you can produce a "Video CD", but I don't know if it's a standard VCD or what.

I know that many of the people who frequent VCDhelp.com tend to tweak-out their programs and processes to get the best quality/compression/whatever. This program looks more canned and seems to target more of a "user" audience than a "hacker/tweaker audience. That said, it does look like an impressive program, and it looks really suited to generating repetitive programs (like a daily/weekly campus update show, etc.) It's a shame that they don't have a demo download available. THAT would be nice to check out.
