  1. Hi,

    I use CCE to convert my DV AVI to DVD, after that, I found the AV is completely out of sync.

    Then I begin to trace what's goining on. I might be DVD authoring software's problem, or mpeg2 cut/join tools problem, ....

    Finally, I enocde the same AVI file (5G DV compressed AVI) again with CCE CBR (I was using VBR, so I will always get *mpv and *mpa and I need to mux them with another tool).

    Well.....after that, I played the mpg file created by CCE (CBR, rate = 8M) with WinDVD, and it's out of sync.....

    Can anybody help me with this?

    Capturing software: Scenalyzer sc-Live (with type II DV, Premiere etc ..)
    Size: 5G
    Encoder: CCE-SP 2.64, CBR 8000k, and I only check the "DVD compliant" option, disable the anti-noise filter and set the Q to 15, the rest of the settings are the same as default. (Audio: 256K)

    Thanks

    hmm... I had a problem like that if CCE, but it was easy to correct. Im at linux right now so I cant tell exactly where to fix it. Look for something like 01:00:00 and change it to 00:00:00. I dont know why but with 01 we got 4 seconds less of video. Thats why the AV is out of sync.

    Perhaps it could not be your case.

    Hi afreitas,

    I found that, it's in "Video=>Timecode", and it's 01:00:00:00 by default.

    I will try it and let you know the result.

    No matter it works or not (I hope it works), thanks a lot.

  4. Doesn't work....still out of sync.

    I then tried tempgenc CBR with same rate settings, others -> default.. and works perfectly, totally IN SYNC..... although the encoding time is twice as long.

    ....I really want to use CCE. Could anybody give a hand?

  5. I can't speak for everybody, but I think the best way to do it is to encode video and audio separately, then mux them together, like the pros do.
    If you find problems with either video or audio stream, it's much easier to identify and solve those problems. BTW, CCE has problems with audio in VBR mode.

    Well, I can speak for many (at least those who know CCE)...

    Definitely DO encode video and audio separately. Use CCE for the video (obviously), and use whatever you'd like to for the audio encoding (I just use TMPGEnc). Then multiplex with a reliable multiplexer such as bbMPEG.

    CCE does NOT do audio well, and it's even worse when trying to make a full (video/audio) stream. Not only does the sound turn out inferior in quality, but also it's so buggy I'm suprised you even got it to encode video and audio at the same time!

    Will save you a million headaches.

    Plus, when you multiplex afterwards, you can correct the audio offset delay) just by re-multiplexing, rether than re-encoding.

  7. Thanks for the advice. I think I will take them by encoding audio and video separately.

    BTW, I found the real problem, and this might surprise lots of people:

    CCE-SP 2.64 has AV SYNC problem, while CCE-SP 2.62 is OK.

    That's right.....2.64 has problem.

    I use the same AVI, same settings for both CCE-SP 2.64 and CCE-SP 2.62, encode to CBR (as I explained before, to isolate the cause of thel problem, I cannot do VBR and mux the Audio and Video by another tool)

    Same AVI also enocde by TMPGENC 2.54a to mpg file.

    Result:
    CCE-SP 2.64 => OUT OF SYNC
    CCE-SP 2.62 => NO PROBLEM
    TMPGENC 2.54a => NO PROBLEM

    Actually this result surprised me a lot. I just never expect the problem would be in the latest version of CCE-SP. I always thought that must be my wrong settings or something to cause the AV OUT OF SYNC

    Anyway, I'd suggest stop using 2.64 if you are using it.

    I've found that editing with Adobe Premiere then using the Video Server Plugin to transfer to CCE 2.64 fixes this audio sync problem.
