  2. I have taken mpeg files (that were captured using my Sony digicam) and converted them to mpeg2 using the mpeg2 plugin for Nero and burnt a SVCD. No trouble, just drag and drop. It looks pretty good too.

  4. Yes but it is pointless. The advantage of mpeg2 is that it supports interlaced video and mpeg1 doesn't. Just make an xVCD.

    You will not gain any quality in MPEG2 from your MPEG1 source. I assume it is a compatability issue?
