  2. search the internet for definitions of the white book media. when philips (who co-developed the cd format) created standards, they were labelled as 'books', presumably cos the guy who did them had coloured folders for his work standared audio cds are 'red book' and standard data cds are 'yellow book' vcds fall under the catagory of 'white book' which lists the details of the standard, and the changes made to it over the years. there are plenty of resources out there which will tell you all the details you want to know. try http://www.licensing.philips.com/cdsystems/cdstandards.html
