  1. I've always recorded with YV12, so that it shows well and converts wonderfully.

Disk space is not a factor (1/2 a terrabyte).

Now that I'm finally fed up with MMC seldon working, I'm looking into other 3rd party recording software, am presently trying out iuVCR, which I happen to like.

Problem is getting that YV12 "compression". I've tried Huffy, MPEG-4 and others and they all leave something to be desired.

Can someone help me find a 3rd party recorder that will record in this mode?

    Many thanks.

With half a terrabyte, you really want to compress it? Sorry, no help from me. I just started using iuvcr, the only thing that looks like it will work for me.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

Do you really have 500 Gigabytes of hard drive space? How much did that cost you?

  4. Yeah, a Promise Card with 4 120 gig ATA 120 gig drives in RAID 0, NTFS.

Now they came out with a 6 channel card.

I don't NEED the compress, but recording RAW then converting to SVCD is blocky and generally stinks, but YV12 gives me a much better conversion.

Getting a Matrox G450 eTV today, so I'm hoping that:

    1) get's rid of ATI
    2) gets rid of A/V sync problems when capturing
    3) makes this setup work the way I expected it to, without un-install/re-install headaches.

If you get a good conversion, please tell me how.

  6. http://www.caseoutlet.com/Server/CS-WS-FS-710/CS-WS-FS-710.html and look inside.

Been building 'puters for 20+ years and this might be one of the best cases I've ever seen.

Both 4 drive internal cages remove with a lever, and you can SNAP a fan in front of the drivers so that it blows from outside the case over the drives.

Black with a door in front.

Looks great next to the Mediacenter.

I've got 2 CD's in it and I still have 3 external bays left.

Take a look at athe new Promise card. TX/6 I think.
