  1. I thought I posted this already???? Not showing up though. Here's the shortened version of my question:

How do i convert VHS to VCD and get nearly equivalent VHS quality when the VCD is played on a stand-alone DVD player? I dont care about playing on PC since I can simply open the file in any mpeg player (irfanview is my favorite and its free!)

    Using
MMC7.6 w/Stinky capture via Video In (this is WAY too easy... must be missing something)
VCDEasy for burning (burning is too easy too so i figure im missing some step here)

Ive tried some stuff but quality is bad and sound is weak (even w/line-in record volume setting maxed out)

    thanks
    joel

First off the method may be correct...but its the tweaking in between that affect every thing....
Don't capture using a high compression setting or when you try to convert to bigger better ...it will be like trying to enlarge a 1in X 1in picture into a full screen photo.....
VCD standard is about 10 mb per minute for mpg video.... I seem to think my captures take about 50 mb a minute ( yours could be smaller)
When you encode you can adjust sound quality and volume...be try to get the best when you capture ...so you have something to work with.
