    Hi,

I'm trying to create a SVCD including multiple audio streams and more important...subtitles. Using the DVD2SVCD guide from doom9 i've succesfully created .cue and .bin files. However I have a challenge regarding my standalone DVD player.

My Sony NS400 player cannot play SVCD movies. BUT by replacing the header of the MPG file with an MPEG-1 header I can trick Nero into thinking it is burning a VCD movie while it is a MPEG-2 (SVCD) encoded file.

But because DVD2SVCD is a complete process which ends up with bin-image files I cannot replace the header of the MPG files. Also the folder structure of a SVCD is different from a VCD.

Is it possible to create VCD movies with selectable subtitles/audio streams in the situation described here, or am I wasting my time.

  2. You are wasting your time.

You can turn off vcdimager and check "don't delete files" under DVD2SVCD to stop bin/cue creation. Nero will take the muxed
mpeg-2 files direct. BUT if you change the header and burn
them as a VCD, the subs and extra audio will be lost as
they are not supported under VCD specs.

Ok that's a possibility. But what will happen with the chapters and subtitles I had configured. Will I still get the SVCD folder structure, but then without it being put in a .bin file.

Won't I just end up with only an .mpg file without selectable subtitles?

Are selectable subtitles possible according to the VCD standard?

    Regards,

    Don
