  1. i encoded a file to mpeg 1 with TMPGEnc and the file runs fin on my computer with win media player, but on my standalone DVD player i get a No disc message???? why

    first of all, did you burn the mpeg1 as vcd, or is it an mpeg file on a CD(big difference)? second of all, does your DVD player support VCD?
    third of all, does your player support CDR or CDRW--whichever the VCD is burnt on??
    fourth of all, try to supply relevant information such as the questions I answered above when posting topics...if giving this info doesn't answer the question for you, it will help others give you a good answer rather than just supplying a guess.

  3. ok my dvd is compatible, the file is an Mpeg 1 on my hard drive and i just copied the file to cd

    look left at the section labelled AUTHOR
    that should help you burn the vcd correctly
