I CAN NOT get my .avi captures from my camcorder into TMPGenc!

I have tried adding priority to the "environment" settings,

I have tried to re-encode with Canopus DV File Converter (at first I thought this was my dream come true),

I tried to re-encode with Premiere, but it sait it would take 17 hours (but it only took Canopus DV File Converter 5 minutes, so WTF?)

What can I do? All I want to do is put my Camcorder .avi files onto VCDs and it is driving me nuts!

    My system: (relevant info)

    Athlon XP 1800+
    256MB RAM

    Sony TRV130

    Thanks!

  2. Have you tried opening the AVI in VirtualDub, then frameserving it to TMPGEnc? I just encoded a file that would not play properly in WMD, or encode directly in TMPGEnc, but VirtualDub could read and play it OK, and TMPGEnc could handle it when frameserved.

    Might just work for you.

    Martin.

"mymovie" file can not open, or unsupported.

It sounds like others have had this problem. I may try the virtualdub way.

Ensure you have a DV codec that VDub can use .

  6. Hello
I had the same problem but I think that I've found the solution.
    I have also Sony TRV 130, P IV 1,6 MHz, 256 Mb
I think that your problem is the way you have put the mouvie from the tape on the hdd ( the copy method, and the software ).
Since I don't know how you've made that I will show you my solutions.
1- I have GF3 with TV in and S-Video in, and with the capture software I've got some big files of .avi, that I can normaly compress with TMPG or with another software.
2-I have a Firewire port ( sound card Creative Audigy Player ) and with the capture software ....
Second solution is better since I have the original video and audio signal, throw a digital copy from the tape to the hdd ( i did't mentioned that on the first solution a have to use 2 cables, one for video and one for sound ).
The capture sotware that i've used are: scLive(2)-from the net received; EditStudio 2.1.4(1 or 2 ) - from 'a friend'; Asus (2) - from the instalation cd for the video card; and I've heard that Pinnacle Studio is also god. With this software you will have a big .avi file. After that try SVCD (mpg2 ) instead of VCD.
    Good Luck

ps: I'm sorry for my english; if you find a solutios to copy with a rezolution bigger than 720x576 please give me a message
