  1. My crt monitor tends to change colors while in use. The white on screen will turn vanilla and dull yellow. Eventually the screen will flash yellow. Is my monitor dying. It was made in 1999?

  2. It almost sounds like either your moniter is going out or you are having a problem with your video card.If you have a decent vid card than more than likley the moniter is your problem. Before doind anything rash thou i would download new drivers for it.
This is proboly a ice cream induced thought so i can not take no control for the above statment. :P

  3. I'd try one of your extra monitors, or borrow a friends and test it out. if it does the same thing as your monitor right now is, then its probably you video card and you need the latest drivers (like jexster said).

  4. I have had the machine for little more than 2 years and this never happened. I still use win98SE like I always have. I ran a utility that tested the MOBO and video card and both it says are functioning normally. It seems to be the monitor,I have to turn up all the way the brightness to make the yellow be away, but sometimes it will just go away as quickly as it came.

I guess I should start looking for a new mon.

Yeah, sounds like you monitor is on the way out. Mine blew up the other day, it kept making these fizzing noises occasionaly and blacking out for a second or two. Over a period of about two months it got gradually worse untill one day: BANG. It also gave out a little smoke which I thought was touching... lol I think that the transformer has gone. Anyway, I couldn't be assed to get it fixed so I got a nice new 19" flat screen instead which is way better than my old one. CRTs have gotten a lot cheaper nowadays, and they have also gotten a lot better.
