I am in the market for a new VCR that will be used mainly for capturing and authoring. I really need S-Video support (I/O). Since I don't plan on ripping Macrovision, I won't need TBC (or does it do more than that?) I am in the $60-$100 range NEW, but might buy a good used one. Any suggestions?
Thanks-
Chris

JVC makes an excellent (and very reasonably priced) entry-level S-VHS VCR which has S-video in/out, hi-fi stereo sound etc. Here in Australia they retail for about $500, so if you're in the US you can basically halve that price. The model no. for this deck is HR-S5880AM.

I recently purchased a Phillips S-VHS recorder on ebay: It's excellent, but I don't believe they produce this model anymore.
