Gang,
Help me if you can please.
I have a
System: 500MHz; PIII, 128MB RAM, Win98se
Capture: Visiontek Xtasy Everything 64MB (Nvidia Persona Cinema)
I want to capture real-time VCD quality, preferably @ 352x480. I have tried various tweaking, lowering GOP, higher bit rate, audio @ 128, lower horizontal/vertical scan, etc.
At higher bit rates (2300), the video is kinda jerky. When I lower the GOP structure I get macroblocks (too many).
Is there anything I could try with my system settings or capture settings?
Thanks,
DV

With only a 500 MHz machine, the only option for real-time captures with quality is a hardware based VCD capture card. like the PV231.

skittelsen,
Thanks for the tip. Do you know if it is possible to change the video resolution size (352x480 vs 352x240)? Thanks.
BTW, I like your review of the PV231 card -
Nope, this card will do 352x240 or less only (NTSC). However, it does capture both fields and combines them into one x240 frame. That is why the captures from this card looks so sharp even at VCD resolution.
