  1. I ordered the Star Wars Trillogy from EurekaMovies.com and when I played them (both on my VCD capable DVD player and my standalone VCD player), I observed that the quality is no better than what I can produce using my standard computer equipment when copying a DVD to 2 VCDs. I expected very high-quality playback coming from VCDs made by a company that actually makes VCDs, but I was fairly disappointed.

What is that? Shouldn't they (VideoVan, I believe is the company that made the discs) have taken more effort to produce a better quality Trillogy? Or is it not possible to using MPEG-1 VCD compression?

    Thanks.

Your right addicted2scifi I felt a serious case of buyers remorse when I bought these discs. As long as George Lucas is taking to make the DVD's for "quality purposes" you would expect the VCD's to be very good. Go figure, Huh?

  3. What? The first trilogy isn't available on DVD. Epi, you do not make sense

vcd's are lower quality than VHS. What would you expect from them?

I never said the first trilogy was available on DVD, just that George Lucas said in an interview that he wanted to take his time making the DVD's. I was just making a comparison. If he really cared about quality he would not have licensed the VCD's which were not very good.

  5. Get a laserdisc player.. the Star Wars THX discs look great on it. The discs are a little expensive right now because of Episode 2, but a couple years back I got the 3 movies for $25 and a Pioneer player for $50. It turned out to be pretty inexpensive considering all the other LD movies I got off E-bay for $10 vs $20-$25 I would have paid for a DVD (back then). Now a lot of discs are $5.
