  1. I can do this just fine but the picture does not look as good when i put in my dvd player. Any thoughts on this? also, around 10 minutes into the disc, it starts to jump a liitle bit (picture becomes boxey). Is it because Nero is not a very good program to convert avi files? any help would be great!!

Nero is not a good program for encoding. Follow the guides on this site using TMPGenc. Then burn with Nero. 8)

  3. The problem is that your DVD player has problems reading your CD disks. Are you using a CD-RW? Many DVD players will just barely read those disks, and play them back with jumpy video and breakup in the audio. This often happens the further from the center of the disk you get (it's harder to track the data further out on the disk because of tracking and focus deviations - the disk will wobble more when you more out from the center to the outer edge)

So, try another disk brand, or burn at a slower speed. Also, Nero is not known for having a good quality mpeg-1 encoder, use Tmpgenc.
