I have installed Uleads Video Studio 4.0 and I am trying to capture from my DV-cam using a Dazzle DM-6100 PCMCIA card. The monitor shows the video perfect until I start capturing, then it gets very choppy and 30-50% of all frames are dropped. Have checked that DMA is enabled on HD, have defragmented HD with 10GB free space, have closed all other programs incl. antivirus etc. What else can I do to get this working, i.e. drop less frames???

Make sure that the enable dma gets loged in by hitting ok on the hd window. Also it may be a problem with your firewire card. Check that if it is a TI compliant driver you may need to update the driver to OHCI compliant driver. I did these two things and my dropped frame problem dissapeared.

Device Manager says that the disk is working in Ultra DMA mode and I have tried changing to OHCI compliant driver but I still have the same problem!

Mystery solved: I was saving the captured clips on a compressed HD. When the disk was decompressed everything worked just fine!
