  1. Here is my capping issue. I have tried Virtual Dub based on tutorial and get excellent quality when converted to SVCD to play on stand alone DVD player with test length caps. Am running Win 98SE, and am partitioned as FAT32. Best I can hope for is 4GB files , right? In practice, I am getting file splits at 2GB. Questions are: where would I find an adjustment to allow me to cap at 4GB, and to cap a 1 hr TV show, must one then convert to smaller MPGs , then merge to battle the file size limit?
Second issue, have WIN TV PVR pci and ULead DVD Movie Factory. Using BT848 chip. With Win TV, I can cap real time MPG2 up to 12MB/s , supposedly Full D1 , but resulting file is identified as Field A. Have since read that with BT8x8, cannot capture above 240 lines in preview mode, and Win TV doesn't allow me to switch to preview or turn off viewer ( like VirtualDub). The lack of a frame drop counter makes me lean toward the Ulead, but again, it initiates the capture driver or chip into overlay mode without a toggle, so although I can observe frame drops, I still cannot cap above 240. Anyone know of any patches, hacks, etc, that would allow me to actually get 480 x 480 capture as MPG2 with my set up?

  3. Thanks Fakesky....Actually I prefer to capture with WinTV itself, but my issues are that without a frame counter I must be dropping frames. I admit that I can capture at 12MB/sec Full D1 and the video resolution is quite good, but I get periodic video glitches and sound sync problems when I convert to SVCD using Ulead. I guess I could import into Virtual DUB and clean up and resync but was hoping to capture directly to SVCD specs and simply mux with TMPGenc. BTW, the capture this way from WinTV despite being Full D1 shows up in Ulead properties as " NTSC Video &40x480 Field A". Doesn't this mean that half the input has been sacrificed due to the BT8x8 preview vs overlay limitation? Anyone else have any comments to add?
