Alright, it's nice to be here! Hope I can make some friends on these boards... I found the site to be of great help, as the title implies, on everything concerning VCD, SVCD, DVD, etc.

The reason for posting is 'cause I wanna know if I can use a 320x136 MPEG video to make a VCD that will work on a DVD player. I know the standard calls for 352x240 (NTSC) video but I've also heard that you can sometimes use higher or lower bitrates. So, will it work?

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated...

  2. Yes, load the VCD template in TMPGEnc. Then go to the advanced tab. Then change the video arrange method to "full screen (keep aspect ratio)" That will give you a widescreen video that is still 352x240.

320x136 is the resolution, not the bitrate. Check on the DVD Player Compatibility List to see if your DVD player can play XVCDs. A XVCD is a non-standard VCD. Since your resolution is different from standard, that makes it a XVCD.
