Hi folks, I have a slightly strange question. Also bear in mind that while I've been editing video for some time, I am quite a newbie in the capturing department so talk slowly

Ok, here goes. I'm contemplating a few different capture cards right now, the TV wonder being my primary candidate at the moment. My question revolves, however, around the ability to capture medium to low resolution (*** x 240) directly from the machine I'm working on from the TV out capabilities on my Geforce 3 looped back into the capture card.

My goals are to capture video and DVD output back into an editable format using the card, and (here's the kicker) to capture gameplay footage from a number of video games I have installed on my machine, and/or possibly actual desktop movement and interaction as video.

Is this even a consideration? Like I had mentioned before, I'm a true neophyte in this area considering I don't actually own a card yet, but I was hoping some of you wise gentlemen and ladies might be able to explain more accurately the true capabilites of a capture card in general.

Hopefully I made some sense... I appreciate any responses to this post.

Oh, and if it helps... 2 ghz - 768 RDR 800 - GF3 ti 200 - 7200 RPM ibm

thanks folks,

Tycho
