First off, I am no video expert, which is why I like VirtualDub. It is very easy to use. I also have a Dazzle DVC II & find MovieStar easy to use.
Anyway, I would like to schedule my new Radeon card to record stuff when I am away, use VirtualDub to cut out the commercials when I return, encode with TMPGEnc & burn to VCD with Nero.
I would prefer to use MPEG2 at high bit rate instead of raw AVI for my original captures. I have a lot of hard drive space, but raw AVI takes a HUGE amount of space.
I can get VirtualDub to import my AVI captures, but not the MPEG2 captures.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a solution to allow me to import MPEG2 into VirtualDub?

Ha, sounds like what I am trying to do on my system. Now my only question is why can't I just tape the shows into MPEG-2 format in VirtualDub?
They never hear of that format for capture?
Help me please!

Rename the file to .mpg and open in DVD2AVI. Make a project file and then convert this into a virtual AVI using VFAPIConv. You should then be able to open the file in VDub.

Urk, YUK, no!
If U have a DVC2 and you like Moviestar (????), use TWNH for timed captures.. saves HD space and U can edit. Better still use Womble MPEG2VCR.
Or use MPEG2 with your AIW but why use AVI when U have an MPEG editor already.
