  1. Hi, I've just ripped a DVD which has a selectable language of Chinese and English. I've encoded 2 seperate VCD mpg files with the Chinese language in one, and the English in the other.

I want to know how to encode the mpg, with both the Chinese and English langauges into a dual audio channel (like the Chinese VCD's with both the Cantonese and Mandarin languages in each left and right audio channel). How do I do this? What software?

Also, how do I add subtitles to a normal mpg file, so I can burn it to a VCD to watch on my standalone DVD player?

    Thanks.

  2. Try DVD2SVCD (http://212.88.77.140). That should do all of what you mentioned you want to do.

Just an FYI only SVCDs can have subtitles. XVCDs supposedly can also have them but I have yet to find a way to add them, at least switchable ones that is. For switchable audio channels one thing you can do is encode the audio at about 128 or 160 for each audio channel and then multiplex them with the video using the MPEG tools in TMPGEnc or bbMPEG

I've multiplexed both the Chinese and English audio files with the video, using both Tmpeg and BBmpeg, but the end result is always only 1 channel, usually the Chinese one, and not both. Both audio channels were encoded in 128kb mp2.

    How do I create a VCD with 2 different langauges/audio channels/outputs?

Evil Cupid: I'm trying to make a VCD with 2 audio channels, and not an SVCD.

DVD2sVCD (small s) now supports both SVCD and VCD, so follow Evil Cupid advise ...
