  1. Hi,

Can anyone tell me or point me to a link which can tell me, what is the best format to download from the internet to create VCD's...

I have tried Divx and converted to mpeg using TMPGEnc and virtualdub for the audio.........then burned to disc using nero or easycd creator, and wondered if this was the best way of making high quality VCD's...........??????

    If not what is....??????

    Thanks

  2. Well, unless you can download a couple of gig's in the size of VOB files, or maybe get some high quality MPG or maybe even SVCD files, but then of course you won't need to do any encoding.

I suppose your last option is downloading DivX in highest quality as possible!

  4. I beleive there is only one,you should read in your dvd player booklet,in my specify that can play "video cd" wich is mpeg1.
Read the operating Instructions and find with wich formats is compatible.

  5. As Rigo said, there is only one VCD format, the rest are non-standard hybrid alteration of it.

I suggest you check if your DVD Player is capable of reading CDR media as in most cases all DVD Players can play VCD, but not all can read CDR's.

It seems the more you pay for a DVD player, the less they play. Sony seem to be particularly bad, particularly in being fussy about the medium, if not the format.

Newsgroups are a good source of VCDs, either in alt.binaries.vcd or alt.binaries.movies.divx. A good DivX converts to a good VCD.
