  1. I am having problems capturing ntsc video from a vhs tape. I can play the video fine on a tv (i have video recorder that can play ntsc and pal) but when I send the signal to the composite port on my capture card I only get black and white video. Great quality though.
Everything else works fine. The Pc is obviously decoding the signal because if I switch from ntsc to pal capture it goes correctly screwy.
I have tried both Wincoder and Ulead software but no difference? Anyone know how to get around this?

Need to know what capture card you have - Will it support NTSC input???

If not Will your VCR 'digitally convert' the NTSC signal on the tape and output it as a PAL signal? (some multi system recorders have this function)

You have either got true NTSC PAL60 or NTSC4.43 the chances is you don't have an all singing and dancing video which lets you chose your output format so you have NTSC 4.43 or PAL 60 output.

There are some generic drivers on source forge which work with BrookTree cards and might allow you to capture this signal. If these don't work you either have to aquire a video which outputs proper NTSC or Buy a standards converter for around £300

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
