Firstly thanks to all those who helped me choose a video capture card - chose the Asus V7100 Deluxe combo in the end.
Just need some help with the best resolution settings for VirtualDub for capture of video. I need to capture a wedding video from VHS tape and put it back to VCD and also to edit the wedding video and put it back to VHS tape to show at a reception. What are the best settings for capture for recording to VCD and VHS from a VHS tape.
Please help!
Thanks in advance

I do this sort of stuff and I always use full D1 size frames as I have plenty of HDD space and an Mjpeg capture card (though I don't think you need to).
Pinacle recommends the following resolution for capturing from VHS tape.
ntsc - 304x456 , pal - 360x540 (both of these with cropping)
So it looks like they recommend full height, but only half the width.
Coverting to VCD you will be well advised to de-interlace by taking just one of the fields or you'll end up with nasty horizontal lines.
Hope this helps you on you decision.
