The trick to play a svcd in your vcd player works fine here. The only thoing that i have to do is in tmpgenc under mpeg tools> simple multiplex This way i put a VCD header on my SVCD to make my DVD player think it's playing a VCD. I've tried this and it works.
Nt now with the second cd of spiderman. i get an error message
246845 s packets cause buffer inderflow
What does this mean and what can i do about it?

If the VBV buffer is too small, there will be no continuous data stream from the SVCD (e.g. dvd player) to the decoder. That might cause an error when you play it back. The picture will freeze for a couple of msec until the data of the I-frame and the corresponding B-and P-frames are filled in the buffer. If it takes too long the S(X)VCD might stop playback and continue at any place by chance. Short said, this is quite a serious error. Which VBV buffer size did you select, when you encoded the file?
When you remux with TMPG, did you select "Video-CD[non-standard]"?
Did you try to mux with bbMPEG, because there you can play with the muxrate manually? btw, changing the buffer size in bbMPEG (when muxing) does not help.
