  2. 1st what program r u using to rip the dvd?
2nd why would u want to save it as DivX?
3rd have you ever had problems burning a vcd from a DivX file?

    DivX is a problem format.
many divx files need to be demultiplexed (sound and video split) to burn to vcd, and sometimes the sound is out with the video.

Save to standard avi or mpeg

  3. If you want to create a VCD, don't use DivX as your AVI compression.
Try to make a straight MPEG from the DVD or, convert the AVI to MPEG when you finish your DVD Rip.

  5. Browner, what I am trying to do is record movies that are hard to find in south america and put them on Kazaa with a specific name,so my family can download them...also family videos,I know the best format is divx because the final size of the movie is going to be very small..
I can convert to vcd and I'm getting very good results, but converting to vcd is not the problem, the problem that I have is that when I want to convert to divx,VirtualDub wont stop doing the "stimated time" the guide here http://www.vcdhelp.com/avi2divx.htm is very simple but in my case wont work.I did many test with avi and mpeg as well.
Maybe I don't suppost to have Divx Pro Codec and Divx mpeg4 codec install..????

Also I know how to convert to vcd from divx, that is not a problem, the problem is converting to divx,I red in this forum that VirtualDub is the best to make divx but not luck it all.

    thanks.

  8. Rigo, once you burn to avi you still have to convert to Mpeg. Which format are you converting to, and do you have a step by step guide. I would really appreciate it.
